Highlights

Ongoing medical and construction projects have brought marked improvements in health care and quality of life to the inhabitants.

Peru

Since 2003, some of our accompishments include:

  • 399 patients were attended to during four days of clinics in San Rafael, San   Andres and Santo Tomas.
  • Three wells dedicated to the area surrounding Iquitos.
  • 500 patients were attended to during a five day dental clinic in Iquitos.
  • Another 230 wheelchairs distributed in Barranca and Iquitos.
  • In five days, medical and dental care was provided to 1,000 people in four villages.
  • 230 Wheelchairs were distributed, helping Barranca’s immobile community.

Ecuador

Since 2003, some of our accompishments include:

  • Board members and volunteers traveled to Quito for the Rotary District 4400 Project Fair in order to learn about new project opprotunities for AaVI. They also visited Ambato and delivered 57,000 vitamins to Calamaca.
  • The first phase of an Adopt-a-Village program in Calamaca began. The initial project will provide a year round clean water supply for an impoverished community of indigenous families.
  • 560 wheelchairs where delivered in Quito, La Comuna, Santo Domingo, Portoviejo, and Ambato.
  • 100 patients were attended to during four days of clinics in Cumbaya and  Pedro Moncayo.
  • 550 patients were attended to during a five day medical clinic in Checa and Solidaridad.
  • AaVI awarded a matching grant to the Rotary Club of Quito in the amount of $25,000.00 for the completion of a community center in La Comuna, Ecuador.
  • AaVI awarded a matching grant to the Rotary Club of Quito Valle Interoceanico in the amount of $25,000.00 for the completion of a medical center in Cumbaya, Ecuador. AaVI will be able to use this medical center for future medical clinics.
