About Us

History

Founded in 2003 and Incorporated as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit in 2005, Adopt-a-Village International is a volunteer-led organization focused on humanitarian work in Peru and Ecuador. Formerly known as Hope Alliance, our name now better reflects our mission to “provide a hand up, not a handout.” We empower communities by moving beyond temporary charity toward sustainable development and self-reliance.

• Working in partnership with various groups to provide the communities with basic need assistance.
• Empowering the community through education, job-training, and micro-business development.
• Providing medical clinics, trained health workers, medical supplies for existing hospitals and clinics, and new construction in villages.

IAH Mission

Our mission is to provide a hand up, not a handout, to break the cycle of poverty in impoverished villages. We are a nonprofit, nonsectarian,
humanitarian, organization that connects resources such as yourself, with opportunities to make a difference. We partner with leaders in
developing countries to provide sustainable improvements that meet basic human needs and improve quality of life, including:
• Medical and dental clinics
• Training for health workers
• Potable water
• Educational and micro-business opportunities

Nearly 10 million children die each year from preventable conditions.

IAH Goals

We work to provide short-term relief to communities in need and we make long-term capital commitments that will improve the community’s
overall quality of life.
We fulfill these objectives by providing “BASIC” humanitarian services:
• Basic short and long term medical care
• Assistance in developing educational and literacy programs
• Sanitation and water purification systems
• Instruction and partnership in micro-enterprise
• Collaborative training in leadership development

Our ultimate objective is to provide self-supporting solutions with a strong
focus on education, sustainable construction, and the use of local materials to ensure lasting progress.
